Institutional History and Evolution

SUNTEC Campus, formerly known as Sun International Computer Management Academy (SICMA), played a significant role in providing IT and professional education in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.

Before 2009, SICMA successfully trained over 5,400 students in the Northern Province. Many of these students are now working in various professional sectors both locally and internationally. This strong foundation supported the growth of modern education under UNITEC.

The transformation from SICMA to SUNTEC, and later to UNITEC branding, reflects institutional growth, modernization, and commitment to global education standards.

Our History

UNITEC Campus began in November 2003 as the SICMA project, operating in selected cities and expanding across Northern and Eastern provinces over time.

SICMA trained over 5,400 students, many of whom are now working in professional sectors locally and internationally.

UNITEC implemented government-funded teacher training programs in Mullaitivu and completed the ASSETS Project with World University Service Canada (WUSC), training over 60 students.
